Over the course of the next month, your students will be working through an exciting new Social Studies unit.  We will be learning about many of the different cultural communities in Canada and how they have shaped our views.

 

The big idea for our unit is:

How is our understanding of our country and the world shaped by the people who tell us stories? 

There will be lots of different activities that connect Social Studies to the other areas of the grade 6 curriculum including Language, Mathematics, Science and Technology, and the Arts.

In addition to welcoming community guest speakers, we will be traveling to a local museum to connect our learning to the local community.
